Emily Irving

Senior Accountant

Emily is a 2011 graduate of George Mason University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting. Prior to graduation, she joined MCG as an intern. As a full-time staff accountant with MCG from 2012 through 2018, Emily developed a broad range of experience and specialized in individual income tax. In 2018, Emily switched careers to private accounting where she was promoted from Senior Accountant to Controller at Health Communications, Inc. (Formally the TIPS Program). In 2021, Emily took on the lead position to complete a due diligence process for interested buyers. Emily worked closely with the company and the buyers through the entire merger and acquisition period. She also gained years of experience with processing payroll and filing state and jurisdiction compliance taxes in all 50 states.

In 2022, Emily returned to the MCG family. While she missed working with the MCG team, she also really missed working directly with clients providing tax and accounting services. It is rewarding for her to help clients find tax savings, financial opportunities, and most of all to help lessen tax and accounting-related stress. She also assists with tax planning, state compliance, and outsourced accounting/bookkeeping services. Emily enjoys a challenge and the constant learning that is gained from working in the accounting field.

In her free time, Emily loves spending time with her husband, two sons, two dogs, and one cat. Emily volunteers with ANSLL and has managed her son’s baseball team from tee ball through coach pitch. She also enjoys playing golf and has set a goal to get out and play more than once or twice a year.
